The Indianola Police Department hosted a Chili Cookoff Fundraiser on Saturday, benefitting Norwalk Police Department Officer Jayson Spurr, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Chief Brian Sher tells KNIA News the response from the local community was all they could have asked for and more.
“Warren County citizens, they just give back. They do. There is no argument to be made. Whether it is Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, all of the smaller communities, in this county, they rally around people. Here we are, people have flooded through the door to rally around Jason.”
The event raised $5,705 for Officer Spurr and his family. The Norwalk Police Department won first place in the chili tasting contest, the Indianola Police Department was second, and the Warren County Attorney’s Office was third. Find photos and a full list of participating agencies below.
