The Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Band Festival was held for the state’s southern high schools last Saturday. Norwalk High School hosted two of its own bands and three jazz bands from Indianola High School. Both Norwalk ensembles earned a Division I rating for their performances. Indianola Jazz Band 1 also received a Division I rating, to make it 11 such consecutive marks. Indianola Jazz Band 2 earned a Division II rating, while Jazz Band 3 went for comments only. The only other area school to perform Saturday was Knoxville’s Jazz Band at Oskaloosa High School, and they received a Division II rating.
