The Indianola City Council met in a study session and regular session Monday evening. The council first met in a study session, where Indianola Hometown Pride provided an update regarding the Wonder on Buxton project, Community Development gave the 2023 Annual Report, and the council discussed an ordinance pertaining to a tractor trailer/semi route in the city.

In regular session, Mayor Stephanie Erickson read a proclamation declaring February 2nd as Chris Street Day in Indianola.

The council approved appointments to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Veterans Memorial Building Commission, and approved the plans for the Franklin Avenue Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project, and tabled a proposal to rezone land located at 2103 E 2nd Ave from Highway Commercial to General Industrial in a 5-1 vote, with councilman Steve Richardson voting against.

The council also approved a contract with Waste Management for the spring and fall cleanup programs, declined to send a referral to the Planning and Zoning Commission regarding the zoning code amendment request for outdoor storage, and approved a professional service agreement with Sportsman Solutions to review naming rights and sponsorship consultancy and management of the Pickard Park Sports Complex before holding a discussion about the FY25 budget.
