Crews responded to a Knoxville residential structure fire Tuesday night.
On February 6, 2024, at 8:29 pm, the Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to a reported
residential structure fire at the 400 Block of N Roche St. Knoxville City Fire Department responded with one squad company, one ladder company, one EMS company, and two command officers. Department arrived to find smoke coming from doors and windows of the residence. A working fire assignment was requested. Squad crews made entry to find a fire in the kitchen. Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire in the kitchen that had also spread to the dining room. Crews conducted a search of the rest of the home and found no one inside. The tenant that was home at the time of the fire was able to get out due to working smoke detectors. Crews extinguished the fire, ventilated
smoke, and products of combustion from the residence.
After the investigation was completed, crews conducted overhaul of the structure. The fire started in the kitchen, on the stove top. The tenant was cooking at the time of the fire when a pan of grease started on fire and spread to the rest of the kitchen and dining room. The main floor suffered heat, smoke, and water damage. The rest of the residence had smoke and water damage. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the tenants.
Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Knoxville Police Department , Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Pella EMS, Marion County Sherriff’s Office, Marion County EMA Alliant, and MidAmerican.
