The Simpson women’s basketball team blew out the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan Wednesday evening at home in an American Rivers Conference contest 83-27, while the Storm men fell 77-65.
The Storm women truly had a team effort as they forced 23 turnovers and allowed only six points in each of the first two quarters to lead 45-12 at the break, then added another 27 points in the third quarter and guaranteed the victory. Four players were in double figures for the Storm, led by Maddax DeVault off the bench with 13.
The Storm men were up 28-26 with 4:31 to go in the first half, but were scoreless the rest of the half as they trailed 36-28 at halftime and couldn’t get much closer in the second half. Simpson was outscored in the paint 48-10, and gave up 56.9% shooting to the Prairie Wolves. Easton Darling and Andrew Curran each had 18 points to lead Simpson.
The Storm women are now 13-10 and 8-6, and the men are 8-15 and 2-12. Both teams next host Loras on Saturday.
