The Little Hawkeye Conference basketball season comes to a close tonight as the Norwalk Warriors travel to Oskaloosa for a girl-boy doubleheader starting at 6:15. Both games can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA as well as KNIA3. Pregame coverage begins at approximately 6:00 p.m.
The Norwalk boys are looking to wrap up at least a share of the Little Hawkeye Conference championship. The Warriors currently stand 14-3 overall and are tied with Dallas Center-Grimes for first place in the Little Hawkeye with a 10-1 league record. A Norwalk win and a DC-G loss at Pella would give the Warriors an outright LHC title. Norwalk defeated Osky 59-37 on February 1.
The Norwalk girls, who beat the Indians 58-38 the first time around, are playing their final regular season game tonight. One year after winning just six total games, the Warriors are ranked ninth in Class 4A at 16-4 overall and 8-3 in the Little Hawkeye. They can wrap up second place in the final conference standings with a victory at Oskaloosa and a Pella loss to fourth-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes.
As expected, the Norwalk girls will have a first round bye when Class 4A regional tournament play begins on Wednesday, February 14. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the 4A pairings on Wednesday. The Warriors are set to host Carlisle or ADM in a Region 8 semifinal on Saturday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m.
