The Pella Christian girls basketball team begins their postseason journey tonight, hosting the Cardinal Comets in the first round of the Class 2A Region 6 bracket.
Looking to make a run in regional play, Eagles head coach Brendan Foughty says that he is looking for his team to play a complete 32 minutes.
“I want to play a clean game. I want us to play extremely intense defense and take Cardinal out of the game right away, but I want to take care of the basketball. I want us to have composure with the basketball and not play sloppy in a game that could get sloppy when you have a team that hasn’t been in a conference as physical as this one. So, I’d just love to see us come out and take care of business, value the basketball, and get open shots”
Pella Christian enters tonight’s contest having won three of their last five games, including a 44-38 victory over Indianola to close out the regular season. Meanwhile, Cardinal struggled down the final stretch of regular season action, winning just one of their last eight games. The Eagles and Comets met for the first time in the Bound era last season in the first round of regional action, and Pella Christian advanced in the postseason a year ago with a 61-35 win.
Coverage of Pella Christian’s home regional game against Cardinal begins at 6:30 tonight on 92.1 KRLS and the Pella Christian YouTube channel.
