Applications are open for the Panther Scholarship Foundation and the deadline to submit an application is March 1st.
This is the twentieth year of the foundation and over the last two decades, the foundation has given away 1,543 scholarships totaling over $1.7 Million. Every student that successfully applies for a scholarship receives one. The foundation gives out these scholarships to graduating students, along with those who are in their second, third, and fourth year of post-secondary education. Financial aid is available for students attending college at all levels, trade school, or an apprenticeship. All financial awards are made possible through donations from alumni, local businesses, residents, and organizations. Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation President Curt Froyen says that these scholarships are made possible through a giving community.
“The generosity of this community is really just second to none. If you have a cause that you really believe in, this community just really steps up. I think the fact that we’re able to help students all the way through college, and when we receive thank you’s back one of the things we hear all the time is that students are amazed that someone who doesn’t even know them will help them with their education. It just makes them feel how special it is to grow up here in Knoxville.”
The only requirements to receive a scholarship is to successfully apply and to send a thank you to your donor. Hear more from Curt Froyen about the Panther Scholarship Foundation on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
