A daycare provider in Pleasantville is accused of injuring a child younger than two years old last week.

Stacy Lynn Launsdale, 39, was charged with Child Endangerment Causing Injury, a Class D felony. Launsdale owns a child care operation at 705 South Columbus Street. The facility is officially registered with the State of Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Marion County District Court, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible report of child abuse at Mercy Clinic in Indianola. A child under the age of two was brought in for bruising and scratches after being picked up from daycare.

The mother of the child received text messages on the afternoon of February 14th from Launsdale, indicating the provider picked up the child by the arms multiple times and manipulated the alleged victim during a fit. Stacy expressed remorse to the mother, according to court filings. Launsdale also admitted to police that she became aggravated and left marks on the child.
