The Pleasantville boys basketball team wrapped up a memorable 2023-2024 season Tuesday night.
The Trojans dropped their district finals game to South Hamilton Tuesday night to fall just short of a bid to the 2024 state tournament. The Trojans finished the season with 14 total wins in Coach Taylor Phipps’s second year as head coach. Among those wins was a significant 74-68 victory over Des Moines Christian on December 15th to pick up their first win over the Lions in school history. The Trojans also knocked off the 17-4 Roland-Story Norsemen in the district semifinals to add to their season resume.
Pleasantville saw an end to the impressive basketball career of senior Dayson Leerhoff who entered the 1,000 point club over his career with the Trojans. The Trojans also saw significant production from freshman rising star Braylon Bingham who led the team in scoring almost the entire season. Along with Leerhoff, the Trojans will graduate two other starters who were key contributors to the Pleasantville basketball program over the years in Ryder Thill and Trent Jolly.
