The Knoxville Police Department has seen an increase in Operating While Intoxicated  arrests in the month of February.

Earlier this month, the department had five OWI arrests in five days, which according to Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller, is unusual. Fuller says he is glad his officers are out finding individuals who are driving intoxicated.  Fuller says that if you are out driving drunk or high, his department will find you.

“It is just a reminder that if you drive drunk, or you drive high we’re out there looking for you. We’re going to find you and we’re not going to apologize when we arrest you. It is one of the more selfish things a person can do is drive while intoxicated whether that be on alcohol or drugs. One third of all fatality crashes in Iowa historically are related to alcohol.”
