It was a busy weekend for area firefighters across Marion County. Pleasantville Fire was assisted by several county agencies as they fought visible flames on a garage at 412 Harrison Lane in Pleasantville just before 9:30 this evening. The 911 caller was inside the home but was able to escape as crews arrived.

Interview with Pleasantville Asst. Fire Chief Mark Clifton:

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Knoxville Township Rural Fire, and Melcher-Dallas were all paged to the incident.

This came after two other fires were reported in the area to structures. Earlier in the day, Knoxville Fire and Rescue responded to a fire that started by a charcoal grill near a house at 606 South 3rd in Knoxville. No injuries were reported and damage was considered minimal to siding.

Pella Fire and Pella Rural Fire were called to at 1179 180th Street, about a mile and a half east of the Marion/Mahaska County line at 3:12 Sunday morning. Pella Fire was called to several controlled burns that were not reported to city or county dispatch offices throughout the day, and many fire departments locally responded to out-of-control gas fires as well.
