A presentation was given at Monday’s Knoxville School Board meeting recapping the 2024 Knoxville Middle School Winter Theater Experience.
The Knoxville Area Community Theater (K-ACT), in partnership with the Knoxville Community School District, conducted the 2024 winter theater experience from January 18th through February 22nd. Seventeen students participated in this activity, including first timers and students who had participated in previous K-ACT summer or winter camps. Sessions were held three times a week and students participated in exercises and games that developed their ability to express themselves on stage. The students then had a performance for family and friends on February 19th. Knoxville Community School District Superintendent Cassi Pearson appreciates the school district’s partnership with K-ACT, and was encouraged by the presentation given by Marty Atkins.
“K-ACT has been a great partnership. We are in our ninth year. They come in and provide opportunities for our elementary and middle school students to do some stage acting. They also incorporate them into their older adult and high school students musicals and plays they run each fall and spring. It was fun to hear his recap for the year and encouragement for another three year agreement with K-ACT into the future.”
Volunteer contributions for the winter theater experience totaled 102 hours.
