After taking a big step forward as a program this year, the Pella Christian girls basketball team is excited to continue tapping into their potential next season.
In their first year under head coach Brendan Foughty, the Eagles posted double digit wins for the first time since 2018-2019. Pella Christian snapped a six-game losing streak to rival Oskaloosa that dated back to January 2021, grabbing a 40-37 win on January 20th, and also knocked off a ranked Chariton squad on February 5th. With enthusiasm building around the program, Foughty says that the most exciting thing is that the Eagles still have room for growth.
“The momentum and excitement around our program, both in the community and in our school, just grew tremendously. So, just really excited about the momentum we were able to build this year. And I think what’s most exciting is that everyone in our program, coaches and players, feels like we have a lot of room to grow. And so, to take the big step forward like we did, and feel like there’s a lot more out ahead of us, it’s just exciting that we kind of set the foundation this year and now we’re just going to continue to build off of it.”
Pella Christian ended the season with a 10-13 overall record and will return ten girls that saw action in at least ten varsity games this past season.
