While they were without many key contributors, the Pella girls track and field team showed the potential the upcoming outdoor season has with a tie for 3rd in the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association indoor championship meet.
Minus defending 3A cross country champion Marissa Ferebee and a host of previous state track and cross country qualifiers, the Dutch scored 36 team points across the oval. Just as their boys did Thursday, the ADM girls pulled away from the field with 84.5 team points, with Gilbert placing second at 45 and Clear Lake tying with the green and white.
Pella was paced by the following top eight finishers:
60 meters – Kamryn Long, 3rd (8.16 seconds)
200 meters – Jacie Trine, 6th (27.17 seconds)
400 meters – Jacie Trine, 2nd (58.61 seconds); Lizzie Neumann, 7th (1:01.98)
800 meters – Lizzie Neumann, 7th (2:34.01)
1500 meters – Ruth Dunham, 6th (5:13.09)
3000 meters – Ruth Dunham, 2nd (11:05.83)
Sprint Medley Relay – 8th (2:00.2) – Kamryn Long, Avery Parks, Abigail Melvin, Kyla Barnes
4×400 Relay – 6th (4:19.63) – Lizzie Neumann, Kyla Barnes, Emerson Wogen, Chloe Punt
Pella will have a smaller contingent of boys and girls return to the track during the Central College indoor meets on Friday and Saturday.
