The process of integrating the school boards at Pella Christian Grade School and High School is underway.
Pella Christian Head of Schools Dan Zylstra says that the merger will become official in July, but administration has begun taking steps to ensure a smooth transition. Zylstra says that the integration will have little impact on education, but adds that the biggest effect parents and students will notice is the transition from middle school to high school.
“From an education standpoint, both schools have been very committed to Christian education from a reformed perspective, and that’s not going to change. So, you won’t see much of a difference in terms of what’s happened in the classroom. But administratively, organizationally, there were a lot of aha moments for those ninth grade parents when they came over to the high school and asked why is this different. Well, we’re hoping to get rid of as many of those aha moments as possible next year.”
