The Pella Christian girls basketball team will return a core group of players next season that got valuable varsity experience this winter.
After posting their first ten-plus win season since 2018-2019, the Eagles will return ten girls that saw action in at least ten varsity games. Among those players, Pella Christian returns three-all conference players. Pella Christian head coach Brendan Foughty says that the tests the team faced this season will be beneficial next year, but adds that more work needs to be done to reach their full potential.
“We’re gonna have a lot of experience now going into next year. And we’ll still be young next year which is fun, but it’ll be a group of young players that have played quite a bit of basketball. And so, I think that alone, that maturity will help us with handling pressure and handling situations where it’s easy to turn over the basketball. So, there’s definitely some skill work that needs to happen but it’s also just a team chemistry aspect of things and playing together and getting to know each other better and I’m just excited to see how that shapes up heading into next year.”
Pella Christian ended the 2023-2024 season with a 10-13 overall record.
