The open burn ban in Indianola has been lifted by the Iowa State Fire Marshall, effective as of 8 am Thursday morning. The New Virginia Fire District remains under a burn ban until further notice. The ban was originally put in place on February 27th, with dry conditions making open burning potentially dangerous to life or property. This announcement comes after Marion County’s burn ban was lifted on March 8th. The open burn bans in place for Jasper, Mahaska, Monroe, and Polk counties remain in place as of this time.
