The Knoxville School Board approved transfer of land to the City of Knoxville at their meeting Monday night.
This is the plat of land officially called “Lot 2” that was the site of the former Knoxville Middle School. The city plans to use the land for a new Public Safety/City Hall facility. Knoxville Community School District Superintendent Cassi Pearson says the school district’s collaboration with the city is a way to provide better amenities for the citizens of Knoxville.
“It’s really exciting. I think the beauty of our collaboration with the city and county over the last several years is we’ve been able to provide great amenities or better services for our community. Working together to be able to provide a gifting agreement instead of a purchase agreement saves our taxpayers money.”
