Dowling Catholic defeated the Norwalk boys soccer team 5-0 on Tuesday night in a blustery season-opening match at Dowling.

The Maroons led just 1-0 at halftime but scored a penalty kick and two goals in the final 14 minutes to pull away for the win. Henrry Abarca finished with a three-goal hat trick for Dowling.

Norwalk kept the game close for much of the way but struggled to mount an offensive attack against the Maroons with just two shots on goal. Head coach Dustin Kralik says the Warriors knew they were up against a tough challenge, but must simply play better moving forward.

The Norwalk boys will play their first home game on Friday night, hosting Bondurant-Farrar at 7:30.
