Knoxville travels to Pella in high school basketball tonight. Both the panther boys and girls should be well rested as they will have had eight days between games. Girls Coach Jim Utiermarkt says defense will have to show up. He has been pleased with the post defense in the first two games of the season. He adds the key will be to keep the game slower than what Pella would like. Utiermarkt says if the score is in the mid 30s or low 40s they have a shot at the win. Meanwhile, The Lady Dutch are one-and-one after last weekend’s win at Mount Pleasant, which is the same record that the Panthers carry into tonight’s game. Pella Head Coach Jerod Garland says this is an important game for his team if they hope to unseat Knoxville as Little Hawkeye Conference champions. On the boys end, Knoxville Coach Clint Driftmeir has been working with the guys on transition defense. He says last Thursday against P-C-M, the Panthers got burnt on a lot of transition baskets and hopes the work put in the last seven days will pay off. The Little Dutch had a nicely balanced scoring attack in their win over Mount Pleasant last weekend, as five players tallied between eight and 14 points each. While Pella has played just one game…Knoxville has gotten in a pair of contests…and are one-and-one. Tonight’s games will be broadcast live on 92-point KRLS with Eric Gotschall and Eric Grillaert providing the call or you can hear the play-by-play on AM 1320 KNIA tonight starting with the pre game at six and the girls game at six-15 with Derek Cardwell and Mike Cunningham the Second.
