Knoxville Tennis Squads Defeat Centerville
It was a generally successful night for Knoxville Sports as the Panther tennis squads took wins over Centerville in the South Central Conference opener for both teams. The girls took down the Redettes 9-0. Janie Maasdam, Natalie Collins, Kate Schneider, Iselynn Prevo, Marlea Cox, and Bridgette Liston all took singles wins and the Panthers swept the doubles matches. At the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts in Knoxville, the boys evened their dual record at 1-1 with a 7-2 win over Centerville. Henry Picard, Ethan Russell, Eli Bumgardner, Jacob Williamson, and Talon Brown all picked up singles wins plus the Panthers took 2/3 doubles matches. Coach Kevin Wadle told KNIA/KRLS Sports there were a few upsets during other matches in favor of his team, and he is finally seeing the competitiveness come out of his guys.
Wadle: “One of the things that gets repetitive in practice is listening to a coach saying the same thing about competitiveness. All of a sudden they see success and realize their coach is saying the right things. That was a big win for Henry, that kids finished 3rd in the conference last season, so it was huge for him.
