All Indianola spring sports teams were in action Tuesday.
The Indianola girls golf team won the Little Hawkeye Conference meet at Willow Creek Golf Course shooting a team score of a 344. Camryn Overton tied for meet medalist honors after the 18-hole regulation after shooting an 81, however fell after two holes of playoff to earn meet runner-up honors. Alexa Inman shot an 83, and Reese Lucas shot an 89. The team heads back to Willow Creek on Monday for a 17-team meet.
The Indianola boys and girls tennis teams dominated Oskaloosa 11-0 each. The boys saw wins from Michael Rothchild, Erik Jensen, Bryson Rehmeier, Justus Woell, Nate Winjum, and Eli Chadwick in singles, while the duos of Rothchild/Rehmeier, Jensen/Winjum, Tate Dales/Chadwick, Seb Cooper/Braelon Decker, and Blake Byers/Ben Mahlstadt.
The girls got wins from Audra Dowler, Keely Breubel, Brynn Bishop, Emily Allen, Zoey Belt, and Ceris Askelson in singles, while the duos of Greubel/Bishop, Dowler/Askelson, Allen/Lauren Danielson, Belt/Paige Dahl, and Addie Wangler/Hailey Worderman. Both teams next hit the court on Friday, the girls at Norwalk and the boys in a triangular at Urbandale.
The Indianola girls track and field team was at Valley High School in a five-team meet. The top finishers for the Indians included Ava Tichy with a first place finish in the Discus, Tessa Gripp placing 2nd in the 100m, and the 4x800m Relay Team also placed 2nd, while Lilly Hoger placed 3rd in the 400m Hurdles.
The Indianola boys track and field team placed 2nd at the Gary DouBrava Invitational at Urbandale High School with 104 team points. Top finishers for the Indians included Graham Hilton placing 1st in the Long Jump, a 2nd place finish in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, August Anderson 2nd in the High Jump, Jonce Hale 2nd in the 200m, the 4x100m Relay team placed 2nd, and Lathan McDaniel placed 2nd in the Shot Put.
The Indianola girls soccer team blew out Osky 10-0. First half goals came from Camden Palmer, Lauren Burk, Lake Martin, Aubrey Edgington, Rylee Burns, and Kodi Helm, while Remy Sivertsen Joviee Wilson, Rylee Burns, and Suzi Fredricks found the back of the net in the second half as Indianola saw nine different goal scorers in the contest. They improve to 2-4, and host Des Moines East tomorrow.
The Indians boys soccer team also defeated Oskaloosa 3-1. The Indians got out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, with goals from Hunter Chittenden, Mason Sickles, and Cole Burk, then held on defensively for the rest of the contest despite Osky getting a goal back. The Indians are now 2-4 on the season, and will travel to Carlisle tomorrow.
