twin-cedars-melcher-dallas-showdown-rivalry

Recent legislation passed in Iowa is impacting preparations for the 2024-2025 school years at Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas Schools.

Scott Bridges, who serves as the Superintendent of both districts, says that many of the complications both schools are facing with the recent bills is due to the timing of when they were passed. Bridges adds that the biggest impact has been felt in preparing the budget and contracting new staff members for next school year.

“It’s been a struggle, I won’t lie. You know they’ve been in session for a few months now, they could have done some of this stuff early on and then they waited till now to push some really important bills through. And we’re in the middle of contract season where we’re trying to get contracts out and everything they’re doing is impacting our budgets, because it’s also budget season and contracts. So, things just aren’t happening naturally or in the timeframe that they would typically happen in.”
