The Pella Christian boys golf team posted Saturday’s lowest round to rebound to third place after the final round of the two-day Dutch Masters Invitational, while Pella slid up the leaderboard one spot to take eighth in the 11-team tournament.
The Eagles had the only sub-300 team score at the Pella Country Club Saturday, posting a 295 to finish at 334-295–629. Pella dropped 40 strokes off their first day score, finishing at 344-304–648. ADM won the Dutch Masters with a two day score of 620, followed by Washington at 626.
Individually, Eliot Menninga led the way for the Eagles throughout the tournament. The junior posted a 77-70–147 to finish in a three-way tie for 1st place. After the playoff on hole nine to determine the meet medalist, Menninga officially took second place in the meet. Cooper Spronk shot 81-73–154 to tie for 8th. Deacon Branderhorst tied for 23rd at 86-77–163, Isaiah Breems tied for 25th at 90-75–165, Landon Fransman finished at 107-80–187 and Carter Brand ended the tournament at 92-95–187.
Cade McGinley was the top finisher for the Dutch in the event, taking 7th after shooting 83-70–153. KJ Besick tied for 21st in the two-day tournament after posting an 81-81–162, Cole Floden tied for 23rd with a 86-77–163, and Patrick Bishara tied 34th at 94-76–170. Rounding out the varsity lineup for the Dutch were Simon Thoreson at 95-82–177 and AJ Hoekstra at 99-99–198.
