A home meet title in boys track and a double-overtime win for the boys soccer team highlighted Norwalk’s Monday night as three Warrior teams were in action.

Boys Track: Warriors win home meet

Capped by back-to-back wins in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, Norwalk scored 129 points to claim the team championship of the Norwalk Boys Track Invitational. Pella placed second with 116 points and Newton was third with 106.

The Warriors earned six gold medals, including wins by Logan Atherton in the high jump, Sam Parker in the 1600 and Grant Wallace in the 800. They also won the distance medley relay. Nate Platner led off all three winning relay teams.

Norwalk added five second-place finishes: Henry Groos in the 800, Aksel Beedon in the 3200, Daniel Roche in the 400 hurdles, as well as the shuttle hurdle and 4×200 relays. Tony Anania competed in his first 400-meter dash and placed third. The Warriors are scheduled to compete at today’s Johnston Invite.

Boys Soccer: Warriors win in double OT

Drake Stageman’s goal in the 98th minute lifted the Norwalk boys soccer team past Newton 2-1 in double overtime. Keilor Rodman assisted the game-winning shot in sudden death as the Warriors improved to 3-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play and 4-5 overall. They had lost three previous one-point decisions.

Norwalk trailed 1-0 at halftime before tying the score on Eli Scavo’s second-half goal, assisted by Caden Endres. Scavo led the team with three shots on goal. Newton entered the match with a 7-1 overall record. Norwalk returns to action Thursday night at Ankeny Centennial.

Girls Tennis: Norwalk falls 9-2

The Norwalk girls tennis team was defeated 9-2 by Waukee Northwest on Monday. Katie Larson and Tessa Livingston both prevailed in third-set super tiebreakers for the Warriors’ only victories. Larson won 4-6, 6-2 (10-5) and Livingston won 0-6, 6-3 (10-5). Norwalk is now 2-3 on the year and is scheduled to play at Pella Christian this afternoon.
