The Pleasantville Community School District announced the hiring of Tara Williams as their new Activities Director Tuesday night. Tara is currently the Activities Director at Lynnville-Sully Community Schools.

Tara comes to Pleasantville with 14-years of experience in education, activities, and athletics leadership. At Lynnville-Sully, Tara provided leadership for all aspects of educational based activities and athletics programs, including staffing, facilities management, scheduling, supervision, and collaboration with key stakeholders in district activities and athletics. Tara also spent 13-years as a teacher, coach, and educational leader at the Prairie-City Monroe School District. Pleasantville Superintendent Tony Aylsworth says that Tara’s experience and leadership stood out throughout the interview process and that he’s excited for her to join the school.

“Tara brings a wealth of experience to us in this role and somebody with some ties to Pleasantville, which is always a good thing and certainly a very deep candidate pool. So, Tara rose to the top of a pool that had 15 applicants, and probably 40% of them brought AD experience to the table, so a very deep candidate pool. We had a very thorough interview process that involved a lot of our community groups and a lot of our coaches and directors and sponsors and so we were very excited to see the way her leadership rose to the top of that group and excited to get her on board here next year.”

Tara holds a Masters in Sports Management and a Bachelors of Arts in education from William Penn University, a Masters in Special Education from Morningside University, and will complete a Masters in Educational Leadership from Dordt University in the coming weeks.

Tara will formally begin her new role with Pleasantville Schools on July 1st, 2024.
