The City of Indianola will be working on new housing developments that were approved by the Indianola City Council over the last several months, including developments north on Highway 65/69 and Hwy 92 both east and west. Deputy City Manager/Chief of Development and Operations Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the comprehensive plan for the city targets growth in the northwest area of the city in the future.

“Naturally that kind of follows our sewer treatment plant. When you look at sanitary sewer, that is the most difficult utility to navigate through any development process and that’s because you need gravity for that to work. If you don’t have gravity, the cost of a structure to pump that utility up a hill is great. So when we built our wastewater treatment plant it went to the northwest side of the city, so when we set out a growth map we kind of look at we should be growing near that main infrastructure.”
