The Knoxville School Board set a special meeting for Monday, April 29th at their meeting Monday night.

At this meeting, the board will discuss a revised teacher salary schedule, revised teacher assignment contracts, and will consider personnel recommendations. Other items still may be placed on the agenda as well. Knoxville Community School District Superintendent Cassi Pearson says with April having a fifth Monday, it was important to set a special meeting sooner than the next scheduled board meeting to discuss the teacher salary increases set by the legislature.

“It’s really important that we actually get a meeting scheduled before May 13th. With some of the law changes, teacher minimum salaries will be increasing in the State of Iowa and we’re very thankful for that. We’ve just finalized a new salary schedule so our new teacher minimum salaries will be $47,500 for next year, and anyone who has taught for at least 12 years will earn at least $60,000.”

This special school board meeting will take place at 5:30 pm on the 29th. Hear more from Pearson on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
