Knoxville city parks are now open for the season, and the city is reminding citizens to keep the parks cleaned up.

The parks in Knoxville now have the restrooms open and drinking fountains operational. The hours of city parks in Knoxville are 5:00 am – 10:00 pm. New to the Knoxville park system in 2024 is the splash pad out in the Veterans District. Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers encourages the community to work together to keep trash picked up at the parks.

“One thing we do spend a lot of time on is picking up trash. We have trash cans everywhere, but the crazy part is when you come up to a park and there is a bunch of trash next to the can. You could’ve walked three more feet to put it in the can. That’s a big thing for us, the amount of time staff spends on that.”

The shelter at Auld Park is also now available for renting. If you would like to rent the Auld Park shelter for an event or gathering, you can do so by stopping by the Knoxville Recreation Center. The Parks and Recreation Department is hiring for seasonal positions to work in the parks this summer.
