Pella Girls Golf Wins Monroe Quad
The Pella Girls Golf team placed 1st on Monday night in a quad with Knoxville, PCM, and Saydel at the Gateway Golf Course in Monroe. The Dutch shot a 212 and leading scores included Emerson Lee – Runner Up Medalist (48), Karsyn Lyons (50), Mackenzie Johnston (56), and Landry Els (58). The girls head to Indianola next Monday for the Little Hawkeye Conference meet.
Pella Boys Tennis Defeats Marshalltown
It was a tougher matchup than the final score indicated as the #3 in 1A Pella Dutch defeated Marshalltown 10-1 Monday in boys tennis action. Brody Ferrell came back from a first set 6-7 loss to win the second set 7-6 and pull off the third-set tiebreaker. Pella also had tiebreaker victories by Nile Rozenboom in the second set of singles and third set from the duo of Rozenboom and Jordan Shaffer, as well as Jamison Visser and Brayden VanHorn in five doubles. The Dutch return in Little Hawkeye Conference competition Wednesday.
Dutch Boys Golfer 4th in Riverside
Pella continued its run of facing state title contenders as the regular season draws close to its end, placing 4th at the Washington Demon invitational Monday. Pella placed behind 3A’s Waverly-Shell Rock and the hosting Demons, and two strokes behind Pella Christian. Cade McGinley tied for 3rd with a 74 to lead the Dutch, and the green and white received 79 scores from both AJ Hoekstra and Kyler Besick. Patrick Bishara was the fourth score counted at 88. The boys head to Newton for conference tournament action next Monday.
Pella Girls Fall in Ranked Showdown with Des Moines Christian
The #3 in 2A Pella girls soccer team had an uncharacteristic night of defense, falling to #3 in 1A Des Moines Christian 6-4 on Monday. The Dutch fell behind in the first two minutes of competition and tried to play catch up from there. While Pella at one point briefly held a 2-1 lead, they gave up five of the game’s next seven goals, including the final two. Abby Warner scored twice in the first half and Bri Shannon had the other tally for the Dutch, as the Lions also had an own-goal. Pella falls to 7-3 and joins the boys for a doubleheader with Pella Christian this afternoon.
