A ribbon cutting and grand re-opening was held Friday morning at the Knoxville Wal-Mart for the completion of their lengthy remodel project.

The event included samplings from a dozen vendors, interacting with mascots, grab bags, and caricature artistry. The celebration was more than just festivities, as Walmart of Knoxville distributed grant money to several local organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Marion County, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, and Christian Opportunity Center.

Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch spoke at the event, and there was a presentation of colors by the American Legion Post. Employees of Knoxville Wal-Mart also greeted the community and celebrated the accomplishment. Wal-Mart of Knoxville Store Manager Dan Northrup says it is great to celebrate the completion of the remodel.

“The amount of work that went into getting this prepped, it’s something the associates are very proud of. It’s something the company has invested a lot of money into. It’s just been an incredible process, and we’re just happy to take a breath of relief and come out here and celebrate.”

The food trucks will also be available today.
