The Knoxville City Council approved Origin Homes purchase of five more residential lots in the Veterans District.
The West Des Moines based company is currently finishing up their current five homes they have built in the Veterans District. One of the five buildings is already occupied. This project is contingent upon Iowa Economic Development’s approval of Origin’s 2024 Workforce Housing Tax Credit application, and formal approval of the sale of the lots following the successful completion of the Iowa Code-mandated sale of public lands process. Origin will acquire the five lots for $22,000 each, or $110,000 in total. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery is pleased with Origin wanting to build more homes in Knoxville.
“Origin was a new developer here in Knoxville last year. They are doing the five homes you see along Veterans Park. We’ve been very happy with their work, and we are very excited they want to continue their work here in Knoxville.”
After a lengthy discussion at the meeting, the agreement will be amended so that Origin would need to add variety to the five new homes they will build.
