The food pantry at Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary has closed. According to a release from Principal Amy Jo Naughton, the decision to close the pantry is partly due to challenges of space and staffing, as well as the increase of other community resources that are now available. Dear Indianola School District Community,
After careful consideration and evaluation of our resources and community needs, we have made the difficult decision to close the Laura Ingalls Wilder Food Pantry. This decision is primarily due to the challenges we have faced in terms of limited space and staffing, as well as the increase of other community resources available since we first established the pantry in 2018.
Since its inception, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Food Pantry has been a valuable resource for many individuals and families in our community who are experiencing food insecurity. We are proud of the impact we have made in providing essential support to those in need.
However, as our community has evolved and additional food assistance programs and resources have become available, we have recognized the need to reassess our operations and prioritize the most effective use of our resources.
We sincerely appreciate the support and generosity of our community members, volunteers, and partners who have contributed to the success of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Food Pantry over the years. Your dedication has made a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
Our final Food Pantry day will be on Tuesday, May 14th from 4:00-5:30.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
