The Indianola girls golf team fell short in their regional meet on Wednesday, placing 5th in a loaded field at Gardner Golf Course in Marion. The Indians shot a team score of 374, with top finisher Camryn Overton placing 10th with an 86, just four shots away from an individual qualification to state. Reese Lucas placed 22nd with a 94, and Alexa Inman placed 26th with a 96. The Indians bring back their full varsity roster for next year.
The Indianola baseball team upset #8 Ottumwa in their season opener Wednesday evening 2-1 in extra innings. The Indians got five innings out of starter Luke Rockhold, with George Blake pitching three innings in relief and earned the win. The Indians were getting no-hit until the seventh inning when they finally pushed one through, and Rockhold got the RBI hit in the eighth to win it. Rockhold went 2-4 at the plate, while Asher Brueck went 1-2 with a double. The Indians are now 1-0, and host a doubleheader with powerhouse Johnston today.
