Pella Boys Tennis Makes Short Work of Substate Final, Return to Final Eight of Class 1A
It took less than an hour for the #3 ranked Pella boys tennis team to journey back to Iowa City and the Class 1A state team tournament. The Dutch defeated Grinnell 5-0 at their own home courts to journey back to the quarterfinals for the seventh consecutive season and 10th time since 2013. Pella had wins from Jack Briggs, Joshua Roozeboom, Nile Rozenboom, Jordan Shafer, and Ben Van Gorp. All six singles and doubles competitors for the Dutch will take to the courts at Brynes Park in Waterloo May 21st and 22nd for the 1A Individual State Tournament, and the whole group will travel to Iowa City on May 30th and 31st for team competition.

Dutch Girls Narrowly Miss Out on State Golf Bids in Oskaloosa
The Pella Girls Golf Team came within 13 strokes of a team qualifying bid to the State Golf Tournament on Wednesday. The Dutch placed 3rd out of 12 teams, having to place in the top two to qualify, shooting a 376. Leading scores for the Dutch were Emerson Lee (92, 10th individually), Carlyn Henry (93, 12th individually), Karsyn Lyons (95, 13th individually), and Sophia Reynolds (96, 15th individually). This concluded the team’s season with a 51-18 record.

Pella Baseball Bounces Back with Kettler, Hoekstra in Win Over Clear Creek Amana
One day removed from a rough start on the road, home cooking is what the Dutch baseball team ordered in a 7-3 win over Clear Creek Amana Wednesday. Pella fell behind 2-0 before their own bats came to life. The day was highlighted by Isaiah Kettler and his three-run home run, which added to a 3-for-4 day at the plate with five runs batted in. Teagan Hoekstra also had a pair of hits and an RBI to go along with six innings on the mound, which included nine strikeouts. Pella improves to 1-1 overall and finishes their first week at home against Centerville this evening.
