In a south-central Iowa rivalry match up it was Twin Cedars who turned up the heat in the third quarter to beat Melcher-Dallas in Bluegrass conference play Tuesday night 54-35. The Lady Sabers used a 19 to nine run in the third quarter to stretch a nine point halftime lead to 19 heading into the final eight minutes. Both teams were stout defensively forcing a combined 32 turnovers in the contest. Ayla Crosby had a big night to lead the Sabers, the sophomore guard posted 19 points, Alee Hugen had 16 in the Twin Cedars effort. Amanda Marlin led the Melcher-Dallas effort with nine points. With the win Twin Cedars improves to 2-0 in the Bluegrass conference and 3-3 overall. The Lady Saints fall to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the Bluegrass Conference.
