The Indianola boys soccer team upset Bondurant-Farrar in the substate semifinal round 2-1 Monday evening, the Indianola baseball team defeated Creston 7-1, and the #14 Indianola softball team defeated #7 Carlisle 12-10 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indianola boys soccer team scored two goals in the first half by Allan Martinez, with the Bluejays scoring a goal themselves for Indianola to lead 2-1 at halftime. Despite multiple pressures from the Bluejays, the Indians held strong to get a zero on the scoreboard to hold on for the win. Indianola now advances to the substate final round.

The Indianola baseball team got a dominant start from Luke Rockhold on the mound, going six innings striking out eight Creston batters. Rockhold was also dominant at the plate going 3-4 with an RBI, and Jack Strong had a grand slam for his first home run of the season, and Andrew DeWall went 1-3 with an RBI. Kaden Ritchie had an inning pitched to close out the contest with two strikeouts. The Indians improve to 2-2, and will travel to Knoxville on Thursday.

The Indianola softball team fell behind 5-0 against the Wildcats after free passes and errors put Carlisle out front, but the Indians quickly recovered. Indianola got a two-run home run from Katie Fosenburg in the second to get back within 5-2, then scored four more runs in the third highlighted by a two-run home run from Alexa Guyer to lead 6-5. Carlisle plated two runs in the fourth, but Indianola answered immediately with four straight hits to start the inning including RBI doubles by Sam Gripp, and Guyer and an RBI single from Makenzie Sloan. The Indians added insurance with back-to-back RBI doubles from Kyra Robins and Fosenburg, and held off a Carlisle rally in the seventh to win it.

Head coach Stacy Evans said after the game, the defense was sloppy but they will be able to fix those mistakes and any time you can get a win over a tough Carlisle program you will take it. Indianola improves to 1-0 on the season, and will travel to Des Moines East tomorrow.
