The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday evening. Mayor Stephanie Erickson swore in five new Indianola Police Officers, and the council appointed Dawn Goodale to the Library Board of Trustees.

The council approved a FY24 budget amendment, the second reading of Establishment of Street Grades for South K Street Paving Project, and heard updates on South K Street Paving Project inquiries.

The council then held a hearing regarding the seizure of a vicious dog. The council voted down a motion to determine the animal as vicious and termination of the animal in a 4-2 vote with councilman Steve Richardson and Ron Dalby voting in favor. A second motion was brought forth to reconsider the vote, which after clarification from the city attorney regarding the next steps, the council voted to determine the animal vicious with the caveat that the animal is sold to an animal sanctuary within 30 days. The motion passed in a 5-1 vote, with councilwoman Christina Beach voting against.
