The Pella baseball team dominated PCM Monday by an 11-1 score. Lake Cowman hit a two-run home run and Isaiah Kettler continued his torrid start at the plate with a two-for-two evening. Landyn Bethards pitched three innings to earn the win in a five-inning contest. The Dutch are aiming to dodge today’s storms and host Carlisle this evening.

In Newton, the Pella boys soccer team dug themselves too big of a hole to come out of against the #10 Cardinals in the substate semifinals, falling 3-2. An unfortunate mistimed attempt to save a ball in by the Pella Goalkeeper resulted in Newton’s first goal in the 9th minute of the match. Pella had some opportunities after that, but couldn’t get on the board, according to Head Coach Mark Solomon. Only a couple of minutes into the second half Newton scored again, and ten minutes later went up 3-0 on a long ball that caused a collision among several Dutch players inside the box. Carson Leathers scored twice off of headers from long passes forward inside the last 10 minutes of play to bring the game to its final margin. Pella finishes the year 7-10 and says farewell to twelve seniors.
