An active spring is expected to continue and many may encounter strong thunderstorms before their morning commute on Friday. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has expanded an enhanced risk to Warren Counties and many in Central Iowa, and a slight risk further east, including Marion Counties. The main threat will be wind gusts over 70 MPH and torrential rain, with a lower risk for hail and isolated tornadoes. Regardless of severe weather, the best chance for storms is between 4 to 8 a.m. locally. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is on the air for any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for Marion and Warren Counties.
