The Indianola baseball team shut out Ames in non-conference action 2-0 Friday evening, while the Indianola softball team fell in extras on the road to Southeast Polk 10-9 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

Andrew DeWall pitched a seven-inning shutout in the contest, while George Blake went 2-2 at the plate with a double and an RBI, while DeWall drove in the other run and Ben Hoffman earned two walks at the plate. The Indians are now on a three-game winning streak, and improve to 4-2 on the season. They will travel to Carlisle on Monday.

The #14 Indianola softball team came all the way back from a 6-0 deficit to take a 9-6 lead, but couldn’t hold on as they fell to #10 in class 5A Southeast Polk. The Indians were scoreless until the fifth inning when they scored five runs including a two-RBI double from Sam Gripp, then a two-RBI single from Chloe Chaplin to trail 6-5, then plated four more runs in the sixth highlighted by a Sam Gripp three-run homerun. The Indians gave up a run in the bottom half of the sixth however, then two more in the seventh to force extras before the Rams won it in the eighth.

Indianola is now 2-1 on the season, and travels to Ballard on Tuesday.
