indianola-8

For the first time in school history, the Indianola boys soccer team is competing at the state tournament after they upset Bondurant-Farrar in the substate semifinal round, then won in dramatic fashion 2-1 in overtime over Sioux City West to advance. The Indians will have a rematch with Des Moines Hoover, which the then-injury plagued Indians fell 4-0 to the Huskies giving up 19 shots on goal.

Sophomore Anson Miller tells KNIA Sports the Indians were without some of their top players the first time around, but they will have to deal with the immense offensive pressure brought on by the talented Huskies team.

“They are just aggressive and tough, and physically fit. All of them, they are crazy athletic. They just put the pressure on you so you don’t know what you are doing and you want to rush it. But we are going to do our best to take our time and overcome this pressure.”

The game will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Jeremy Reinert on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 9:45, with kickoff at 10am from the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.
