For the second straight year, Knoxville Golfer Evan Smith has been named the class 3A Iowa Golf Coaches Player of the Year. Smith helped lead Knoxville to its 4th straight State Meet where the Panthers finished 8th after just one day of play due to weather. This season Smith was 2nd in the state regardless of class in nine hole average at 34.67, he was also 3rd in the state overall with a 70.38 18 hole average, which was tops in class 3A. He also had the 3rd lowest 18 hole score in the state with a 67 on April 25th in the Mohawk Classic at the Preserve. Smith’s competitive career is not over as he will play in college at Northwestern College in Orange City starting next fall.
