It was all Dutch from the top of the first inning against a shorthanded Knoxville squad, as Pella defeated the Panthers in the Red Rock baseball rivalry renewed 17-0 in a four inning game heard live on both KNIA and KRLS Thursday.

A critical two-out error in the top of the first while the game was scoreless opened the floodgates, as Pella scored multiple runs in all four frames against young pitchers for Knoxville. The Panthers were without at least four varsity regulars after a heartbreaking loss against Albia the night before, as per Knoxville Head Coach Turner DeVore.

Pella took advantage of the opportunity in front of them, according to Head Coach Jesse Jablonski, as they had hits up-and-down their lineup. Nathan Vande Lune gave up just two hits in his four innings on the mound; Samuel Carlson with 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs batted in and a double, Isaiah Kettler was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, and Landyn Bethards and Lake Cowman were each 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.

Pella moves to 9-4 overall and heads to Eagle Lane this evening for the Tulip City showdown; pregame begins at 5:15 this evening on 92.1 KRLS. The Panthers fall to 6-6 and travel to Osceola for a pair of conference games against Clarke.
