The past three months were among the wettest on record, and one of the most active storm seasons as well, according to State Climatologist Justin Glisan. Earlier this winter as Glisan discussed the drought, he expressed it would take an excessively rainy spring to get drought removed from the state, and that largely happened, with soil saturated across Iowa. According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report, no moderate drought was reported in the state for the first time in nearly four years. Glisan says while that’s largely good news, it came with several severe weather outbreaks in the last few months, and that the dry conditions could be quick to return as long-term water issues were not fixed by the spring rain.
