This is CPR and AED Awareness Week.

According to the American Heart Association, roughly 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in home. Marion County Public Health Nurse Judi Van Hulzen says for those experiencing a cardiac emergency, chances of survival drop 10-percent for every minute that passes. Those minutes add up especially in rural communities, where emergency services take longer. Taking an American Heart CPR AED class is one way to increase the chance that you will feel confident enough to help, or you can watch an American Heart Hands only CPR instructional video online.
