The high octane PCM offense was at it again Friday as the Mustangs got out to a fast start and rolled to 70-48 Heart of Iowa Conference win over Gilbert in Monroe. Fast starts have been the hallmark of Coach Lorenson’s Mustangs this season and Friday was another example with PCM holding a 19-9 advantage after the first eight minutes. Gilbert would cut the lead down to just four midway through the second quarter on the strength of a three for three performance from beyond the arc for bench player Nick Calhoun, who ended the night four for six from long range. With the score at 36-30 coming out of the locker room the Mustangs found another aggressive and up tempo gear that the Tigers couldn’t match posting 23 points in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 18. Jordan VanRoeckel led the way for PCM with 17 points including eight of eleven from the line. Scott Bruxvoort had 14 on the night followed by Hutch Burns with 11 and Sean O’Conner with 10. With the win the #2 ranked Mustangs stand at a perfect 9-0 overall going into the holiday break and 6-0 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
