The Pleasantville baseball and softball teams came up short against Van Meter Monday night.
The Trojan baseball team fell to the #4 ranked Bulldogs 6-3. Pleasantville gave up all six runs in the first inning and were able to settle in after that. Despite a three hit night from senior Caleb Cook, the offense couldn’t storm all the way back against a tough Van Meter opponent. The loss drops the Trojan baseball team to 9-7 overall on the season and they will be back in action Wednesday against Southeast Warren.
The Trojan softball team fell to #1 ranked Van Meter 8-3. Ella Clark had a stand up triple in the third inning to give the Trojans their first run of the game, and then Madilyn Rowson hit a solo home run in the same inning. Kyleigh McConnell scored the third run for Pleasantville after an Emily Roe hard hit double. Lainey Kennedy pitched a solid game for Pleasantville and Head Coach Alee Phillips said her team battled well and were able to fluster a very good team. The loss drops the Trojan softball team to 10-5 on the season and they will be back in action on Wednesday against Albia.
