The Marion County Roads Department has provided an update on the reconstruction of the Flagler Bridge at County Road T15.
After a six-week delay, beams were set for the new bridge on Monday and Tuesday, which required coordination with the railroad. Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says that while the contractor will be able to make up some of the lost time from the delay, the project is still behind schedule.
“The contractor, in their downtime, was able to get as much prepared for the decking of the bridge as possible. So, they will gain some days back now that the beams are in place and they can start setting the falsework and whatnot to deploy the bridge deck, but we are still behind. So we’ll be well into August unfortunately for the road reopening, if not longer, if there are other subsequent weather delays or whatnot.”
